Immigration Law Unit

Goal

The goal of the Immigration Law Unit is to provide high quality and vigorous legal representation to assist aliens to legalize their status, defeat deportation efforts, and/or be educated to their rights as aliens. The Program provides services throughout Western, Central, and Northeastern NY.

What we do

The Program provides legal representation, advice, information, and counseling:

  • to assist persons fleeing persecution in their native lands so that they can live safely in the United States
  • to unite families of U.S. citizens or permanent residents by obtaining immigration status for their undocumented members
  • to avert deportation of persons eligible to remain in the U.S.
  • to remedy the discrimination that our clients are subjected to due to their immigration status

During the growing season the Program provides legal assistance at various clinics located near growers and farm-workers. Contact the Rochester Office for more information.
