Children's Unit


Goal

The goal of the Children's Unit is to increase academic achievement and the opportunity for school success for general and special education youth. The unit focuses on providing direct advocacy for youth and empowering youth and families through self-advocacy development.

Children's Unit Programs

The Children's Unit is a regional service made up of three separate programs which serve children, youth, and their families in a four county area. The programs include:

  • Monroe County Youth Advocacy Program
  • Genesee/Orleans Youth Advocacy Program
  • Livingston County Youth Advocacy Program

Our strategies include:

  • Securing school enrollment for out-of-school youth
  • Obtaining appropriate educational programs and/or services for youth with disabilities
  • Increasing youth access to services
  • Empowering families to become more active partners in their child's education
